My dog is sick and it is the worst.
did you even look at the blog? that’s my reply.
Ugh nothing grosser than pig apologists.
I’d wager that morganmontemayor doesn’t actually speak to their dad at all about his job, or they live in a town of 500 people who are all white.
My mom was a cop, I grew up around cops. Let me tell you a fucking fact: cops don’t get depression over people not trusting them—they know full well that people hate them. They get depression from drunk drivers hitting kids, or teenagers dying of overdoses, or women being murdered by their husbands, or finding frozen homeless people on the street. There is a lot more to being a cop than pulling over people for broken taillights, and you witness a lot of horrible shit.
Having said that, my mom raised me not to trust the police. I was barely 6 when she told me not to make sudden movements around police, because they all have itchy trigger fingers. When I was 10, she taught me to always have my hands where I could see them and to state clearly if I have any drugs or weapons on my person before they search me. At 13, she told me I have a right to deny giving any officer any identifying information, or to search my bag. At 15, I was detained by an officer and nearly pepper sprayed, and she said I was very lucky to be white, or I could be dead right now.
Good cops are rare. 20 years ago, maybe a quarter of them were good guys. Now, I’d say 5%. Even if they were 50% of the cops out there, that means that half of them are still abusive, violent, racist, and egomaniacal. There are valid reasons why people don’t trust police, and to tell them that they should be kinder because you know maybe 10 cops and they are really nice guys is bullshit. Leave your city limits, break a law, see how well you are treated.
"Cops murder, cops lie, cops steal, cops rape, cops abuse…cops are very, very dangerous." - my mom
Holy shit that was an awesome addition to the conversation and also very scary.
1 bad cop means every cop that knows and recognizes him is a bad cop.
If there were good cops there would be no bad cops.
Toe that fucking blue line, pigs.
I dated a cop for a while, my sister was engaged to one.
The guy I dated was the most racist person I have ever met. I didn’t know this when we first started dating, he hid it for a while. Then as we got closer he slowly let things slip until I started to see he was a full blown bigot. He was also abusive, this too was gradual and only came out when we were having sex. I broke it off after he broke a mirror with my head because I refused to let him fuck me in a bathroom.
My sister’s ex fiance was also a cop. He was huge, well over six feet and big. He would get into blind drunken rages. He frequently talked about the “scum” he had to deal with, usually pointing out that the worst one’s just happened to be non-white. My sister finally left him after he broke her finger and gave her a black eye.
Think about the psychology of being a cop, I can see only two reasons why someone would choose that profession.
A genuine desire to help
A need for power and control over others.
From what I’ve seen, the amount of people that do it for the second reason far outweighs the first.
My abusive ex applied to be a cop and thankfully our county wasn’t hiring at the time or he 100% would’ve been hired because he was a volunteer firefighter in good shape with a clean record. Now he works 911 dispatch. What a shining example of someone who protects and serves the people
